The Maybach 57 S

The ‘S’ in the type designation of the 57 S, which was added to the model range in 2005, stands for ‘Special’ and indicates that Maybach has realised many of the wishes of its discerning customers in the 57 S. Above all, discerning customers with a passion for driving who wanted to drive their Maybach themselves wanted a symbiosis of luxurious comfort and sporty temperament. The 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine with 450 kW/612 hp and a tautly tuned chassis combine luxury and driving dynamics at the highest level in the Maybach 57 S and predestine it as a high-end luxury saloon for ambitious self-drivers who expect the latest high-performance technology with the perfection typical of the brand. The Maybach 57 S offers driving performance in a new dimension: Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes just 5.0 seconds, and from zero to 200 km/h the Maybach 57 S takes just 15.8 seconds, making it one of the sportiest luxury saloons in the world. The driver of this high-end luxury saloon effortlessly completes the sprint from 80 to 120 km/h, which is crucial for many overtaking manoeuvres, in 3.7 seconds - hardly more than the blink of an eye. The top speed is 275 km/h.

In order to transfer the impressive performance potential of the 57 S to the road harmoniously and safely at all times, the Maybach engineers have adapted the suspension to the increased performance capacity with numerous measures. The result is palpable: despite its weight and dimensions, the luxury saloon is agile and dynamic, it steers precisely and quickly into bends and supports the driver with neutral, safe handling. The Maybach 57 S is surprisingly fun to drive on winding country roads and mountain passes. In order to achieve this dynamic, active driving character, the Maybach developers have retuned the stabilisers on the front and rear axles. A two millimetre thicker torsion bar now operates at the front and a four millimetre thicker one at the rear. They give the vehicle a sportier balance with more support at the rear axle. This reduces the roll angle by around 15 per cent and thus also the lateral inclination of the saloon when cornering at speed. At the same time, handling is improved and cornering ability increases. The driving dynamics also benefit from the lowering of the chassis by 15 millimetres. Both measures together result in significantly better road contact - in other words:  The Maybach 57 S sits firmly on the road. A firmer set-up of the ADS II adaptive damping system and the semi-active air suspension calms the body more quickly in the event of vibrations and emphasises the sporty note. If the driver also selects the sporty setting from the three available suspension settings by pressing a button on the centre console, the suspension and damping become even firmer and sportier. Even in the normal setting, however, the new Maybach 57 S offers dynamic handling geared towards driving pleasure without any loss of comfort. The modified suspension components also allow a sportier tuning of the ESP and ASR and permit higher lateral acceleration. The ventilation of the brake system has been further optimised. Air baffles on the underbody in the area of the front axle and the eleven-spoke design of the wheels with high air flow allow more cooling air to reach the brakes. 

This ensures greater performance and stability in all driving situations and under all operating conditions. These measures ensure an optimum level of active safety in the Maybach 57 S at all times. Externally, the Maybach 57 S is characterised by a powerful radiator design with widely spaced, powerful double louvres and a revised design of the light unit and the rear. The sporty appearance of the Maybach 57 S reflects the harmonious overall image of an exclusive luxury saloon that combines the highest quality and technical perfection with additional temperament and impressive driving performance.
