The Maybach 62S

The luxury brand Maybach adds a fourth variant to its model range with the 62 S model. The "S" stands for "special" and indicates that the technicians at the Sindelfingen-based manufactory implemented many of the wishes of their discerning customers in the new 62 S. The result is both unique travelling comfort, enjoyed above all by passengers in the spacious rear of the new high-end luxury saloon, and superior engine performance. Thanks to its further developed, powerful twelve-cylinder engine with 450 kW / 612 hp, the new Model 62 S is the world's most powerful chauffeur-driven saloon built in series; because this Maybach was created precisely for such demands. Externally, the new Maybach 62 S differs from the Model 62 in its visual accents, which above all emphasise its dynamic appearance. Particularly striking are the modified front with a further developed, powerful radiator design, the striking 20-inch spoke wheels and the revised design of the light units. Like the 57 S model, the new Maybach 62 S is also lavishly painted in a monochrome black or a silver shade reserved only for these two models. On request, customers can also opt for a new special paint finish in shimmering white. Discreet "62 S" lettering adorns the front wings in the area below the A-pillar and the boot lid. A revised rear apron with two integrated, trapezoidal tailpipes of the exhaust system signals the high performance potential of the 62 S. Maybach also expresses the symbiosis of extravagant luxury and outstanding comfort in the interior of the 62 S with stylistic confidence. Here, the makers have perfectly crafted high-quality materials to create a deliberately independent and particularly exclusive look. Carefully coordinated applications of noble piano lacquer and sporty carbon or poplar anthracite create an atmosphere of exclusive elegance both in the rear and in the driver's field of vision and activity. A newly designed, valuable leather interior additionally sets eye-catching and at the same time tasteful accents. A V12 engine further developed by Mercedes-AMG ensures superior driving performance in every situation. It produces 45 kW / 62 hp more than in the Maybach 62. The twelve-cylinder power plant in the Maybach 62 S produces a whopping 450 kW/612 hp from six litres of displacement thanks to biturbo charging and water intercooling. The maximum torque of an impressive 1,000 Newton metres (electronically limited) is available in the wide range between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. With these power reserves, the driver can react calmly to any traffic situation, while the large luxury saloon handles a fast drive without any noticeable effort. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds impressively demonstrates the performance capability. The top speed was limited to 250 km/h for chauffeur-driven operation. The exclusivity of the powerful twelve-cylinder power unit is documented by an engine badge on the cover with the signature of the Mercedes-AMG technician who handcrafted the entire power unit according to the motto "One man, one engine". In contrast to the more sportily styled 57 S self-drive model, which is more tightly tuned, Maybach technicians preserved the full suspension travel in the 62 S. In this way, Maybach achieves a level of ride comfort that can hardly be surpassed.
