The RUF Rt12
Ruf Automobile GmbH, based in Germany, has specialised in tuning variants of many important Porsche sports cars since 1983. Ruf RT 12 is one of these tuned vehicles and is based on the Porsche 997 platform. The 997, which is marketed as Porsche 911, was introduced to the market in 2004 and manufactured until 2012. The production of Ruf RT 12 also started in the same year, 2004. The basic version of the 997 reaches 345 hp. Ruf RT 12 builds on this and significantly improves performance to 650 hp. Although the engine has all the typical features of a 911 turbocharged engine, it differs significantly in detail from the Porsche aggregate series. In the Ruf factory, for example, a completely new six-cylinder boxer was built using the old engine housing from the 996 Turbo with, among other things, a special crankshaft, new cylinder heads and, last but not least, a biturbo system developed in-house, including a conventional turbocharger, which pressurises the boxer engine, which in this case has a displacement of 3.8 litres, to 1.3 bar. By increasing the cubic capacity to 3,746 cubic centimetres, Ruf compensates the disadvantage of the poorer response of the two comparatively large KKK turbines, which in contrast to the Porsche series still operate with rigid blades. To achieve this, the bore was expanded to 102 millimetres. The result is not only convincing - it is overwhelming. The exemplary smoothness of the engine from the first turn of the ignition key is expressed spontaneously not only when the engine is idle, but also in a quite restrained but stimulating hoarse pitch and in an absolutely vibration-free, silky engine. The RT 12 built on the wider bodyshell of the Carrera 4 represents nothing less than the sensational top of the small but noble Ruf product pyramid. Obviously, the RT 12 is not just an extremely dry racing device for the racetrack, but first and foremost, it is a sports car that has been carefully prepared for the more varied and changeable conditions of everyday life. Independently of this, it is good to know that the roll cage, which is invisibly integrated in the front part of the cockpit, significantly further increases stability. However, the additional item on the invoice amounts to another fabulous 13,804 euros. The vehicle on offer here comprises this important extra. The owner also showed a keen instinct for colour by opting for an elegant colour combination. The vehicle was completed at RUF in spring 2009 and the initial registration took place on 13 March. The car was to remain in first ownership for the next 10 years before being sold to our company in late summer 2019. When we hand over this vehicle to its new owner, it will have a new TÜV (MOT) certificate and be freshly serviced Our sales staff will be happy to answer any detailed questions you may have at any time.
