Modern automobile technology implanted in visually authentic Mercedes-Benz classics means ensuring, with a lot of creativity, that the synthesis of old and modern technology provides our customers with sustainable driving pleasure. Our high-quality standards, both in development and implementation, form the basis for our work, characterized by preserving the special charm and unique form of the vehicles through the conversion while maintaining respect for the vintage Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Our goal is to ensure a combination of visual originality and technical performance, as well as everyday usability. The heart of the M-SL is, of course, the engine. All engines that make their way into a New-Tech conversion must meet strict quality criteria before being admitted for a complete overhaul in our in-house engine construction. Low mileage and successful completion of a comprehensive inspection process by our engine experts are prerequisites. Subsequently, all engines are completely overhauled in meticulous craftsmanship. Before installation, a final test on the engine test bench ensures that all functional values are checked once again. The drivetrain is complemented by a 5-speed automatic transmission from Mercedes-Benz, which must meet comparable quality requirements before installation. The optimal coordination between the engine and transmission ensures both confident driving comfort and a sporty and dynamic driving behavior. Another important aspect of this drivetrain package is evident in terms of workshop service. Every Mechatronik vehicle can be checked by any Mercedes-Benz service partner worldwide via engine diagnostics, eliminating the need for an extensive search for a classic specialist. This unrestricted everyday usability is what makes a Mechatronik conversion what it is – a modern classic. The high standards we set for the M-SL drivetrain are also reflected in the suspension. Excellent traction and high agility with precise steering and balanced weight transfer are ensured thanks to the completely retuned suspension. In the suspension we developed, performance springs and dampers developed by KW Automotive are used. Our Mechatronik sports suspension also allows for a setup precisely tailored to your expectations and driving style, which can be further adjusted to your wishes and requirements. Minimizing body movements and thus increasing comfort even during dynamic driving were among the top development goals of our suspension specialists. In combination with the 5.0-liter engine, the Mechatronik limited-slip differential installed at the rear axle ensures an even better distribution of power between the drive wheels. The Mechatronik high-performance braking system, using high-quality components and the standard installation of the anti-lock braking system, ensures that the M-SL can be controlled reliably and safely even during braking. The brakes are precisely matched to the engine power and suspension, providing uncompromising safety and optimal braking performance. Each individual part is carefully tested to meet the high requirements. At the front axle, the larger two-piston brake system with perforated and internally ventilated brake discs is used. The discs are optimally cooled and impress with their responsive performance even in wet conditions. At the rear axle, we rely on the revised series braking system of the W111. Every M-SL converted by us naturally offers much higher safety standards than were the case at its original market launch in the 1960s. Nowadays, safety and assistance systems have a much higher significance, which is naturally given utmost attention in our conversions. Considering the significantly higher engine and driving performance, we equip our vehicles as standard with modern safety systems such as ABS and ASR. This ensures that the power reaches the road when the accelerator is pressed, and the vehicle remains constantly controllable and steerable during braking.
