The heart of the M-Cabrio is, of course, the engine. In this case, the Mercedes M113 eight-cylinder with 5.5 liters of displacement and 354 horsepower. The decision to use this engine was based on its well-known reliability and impressive performance. Due to these characteristics, the engine is the preferred choice for our conversions. Additionally, it is 30 kilograms lighter than the original engine, contributing to optimal weight distribution and positive effects on driving dynamics in the M-Cabrio. All engines selected for New-Tech conversions must meet strict quality criteria before undergoing a comprehensive overhaul in our in-house engine department. Low mileage and successful completion of an extensive inspection process by our engine experts are prerequisites. Subsequently, all engines are completely overhauled by hand with meticulous care. Before installation, a final test is conducted on the engine test bench, where all functional values are verified once again. Complementing the power unit is a 5-speed automatic transmission from Mercedes-Benz, which must meet comparable quality requirements before installation. The optimal coordination between engine and transmission ensures both smooth driving comfort and sporty, dynamic performance. Another important aspect of this drive package is the workshop service. Each Mechatronik vehicle can be checked by any Mercedes-Benz service partner worldwide via engine diagnostics, eliminating the need for an extensive search for a classic specialist. This unrestricted everyday usability is what makes a Mechatronik conversion what it is—a modern classic. The high requirements we place on the M-Cabrio's drive are also reflected in the suspension. Outstanding traction and high agility with precise steering and balanced weight transfer behavior are guaranteed thanks to the completely retuned suspension. Our developed suspension system incorporates performance springs and shock absorbers developed by KW Automotive. Our Mechatronik sports suspension also allows for a setup precisely tailored to your expectations and driving style, which can be further customized to your wishes and requirements. Minimizing body movements and thus increasing comfort even during dynamic driving were among the top development goals of our suspension specialists. Combined with the 5.5-liter engine, the Mechatronik limited-slip differential installed on the rear axle ensures even better power distribution between the drive wheels. The Mechatronik high-performance braking system ensures reliable and safe braking at all times thanks to the use of high-quality components and the standard installation of the anti-lock braking system. The brakes are precisely matched to the engine power and suspension, thus ensuring uncompromising safety and optimal braking performance. Each individual part undergoes special testing to meet the high demands. At the front axle, the larger two-piston brake system with perforated and internally ventilated brake discs is used. The discs are optimally cooled and impress with their responsive performance even in wet conditions. At the rear axle, we rely on the revised standard braking system of the W111. Each M-Cabrio converted by us naturally offers far higher safety standards than were the case at its original market launch in the 1960s. Nowadays, safety and assistance systems have a much higher priority, which naturally also receives the best possible attention in our conversions. Considering the significantly higher engine and driving performance, we equip our vehicles as standard with modern safety systems such as ABS and ASR. This ensures that the power is delivered to the road when pressing the accelerator and that the vehicle remains constantly controllable and maneuverable during braking.

The vehicle offered here is one of only 5 M-Cabrios built annually from the 2023 production line. The car has been fully restored by Mechatronik and assigned to New-Tech production in this process.
