The Ferrar 599 GTO

On April 8, 2010, Ferrari unveiled the 599 GTO (for Gran Turismo Omologato), a special edition model of the 599 limited to 599 units. The 599 GTO is based on the Ferrari 599XX launched in 2009 and, according to the company, is the fastest road-going Ferrari to date. One of the most significant innovations is the close connection between the extreme mechanical suspension adjustment and the electronic systems, which are mainly used to increase performance. From the outset, Maranello's engineers worked towards perfect integration of these two areas of the car during development. In this way, the car's responsiveness has been brought to the maximum, bringing greater driving pleasure and obvious time advantages. Elastic-kinematic suspension elements include new springs and a stiffer rear cross member, as well as second-generation magnetorheological damping control (SCM2) suspensions. The mechanical components work in conjunction with the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) stability control system and the technologically advanced F1-Trac traction control system. The vehicle thus responds extremely quickly to the driver's commands. The extremely direct steering angle also contributes to this. The vehicle is thus stable under braking, fast on corner entry and exit, and responsive on corner exit. The aerodynamics of the 599 GTO benefit greatly from the experience gained by Ferrari technicians first in F1 and then with the 599XX. This know-how has allowed a notable improvement in the car's support load without affecting its drag. Thanks to the application of solutions developed for racing cars to the approved road-going sports car, the downforce on the GTO reaches a value of 144 kg at 200 km/h. The interventions concerned the front, the side, the underbody and the cooling flows. For the latter, the brake disc and pad cooling lines were optimized and wheel doughnuts installed. These claddings on the outside of the brake disc serve to reduce energy losses in the wake flow coming off the wheel guide. On the front side, the bodywork was intervened to reduce the width of the wake and thus the drag. The front splitter, on the other hand, became a proper front apron with two functions: Increasing the support load and improving the cooling of the oil cooler. On the side, the sill shows an angular profile that serves to increase the efficiency of the central underbody. The design of the aerodynamic floor elements has also been modified. New front lips in front of the wheels and a diffuser with a profile with double curvature were used.

The Ferrari 599 GTO offered here was completed in September 2010 and delivered new to the first owner via the Swiss dealer Automobile Nemeth AG. The body was painted in the coveted Rosso Corsa colour combination with a Grigio Silverstone roof. The interior was finished in Nero Tessuto fabric, with red stitching on the dashboard and carbon fibre sports seats, while Alcantara was used for the door panels, headlining and luggage compartment. On the left side of the dashboard is a plaque reading "Ferrari, 31 Formula 1 World Titles", a nod to the Scuderia's competitive heritage. The engine cover of this car is signed by the technical team that built it, adding to its exclusivity. The first owner, an avid collector of Ferrari sports cars, decided to have this example certified by Ferrari Classiche. The "Red Book" was issued in September 2011 and certifies that the colour scheme is factory correct and that the engine and gearbox are matching numbers. After seven years, the car was auctioned with 2,966 km on the odometer and sold to the second owner in 2017. The car has been maintained as a pure collector's car throughout its life, as at the present time the odometer shows only 3,659 km. The car comes with the Ferrari Classiche Red Book and an indoor car cover. With its classic colour scheme, low mileage, only two owners and Ferrari Classiche certification, this 599 GTO offers a rare opportunity to acquire one of Ferrari's most exclusive examples.
