The Mercedes-Benz CLK AMG DTM is undoubtedly one of the most exceptional vehicles that Mercedes-AMG has ever produced in its history. Created in 2004, this exclusive special edition of the CLK-Class pays homage to the outstanding DTM season of 2003, where Mercedes-Benz won an impressive nine out of ten races. The vehicle was manufactured in an extremely limited series of only 75 units, commissioned by Mercedes AMG GmbH and built by the renowned racing department HWA AG. The distinctive aesthetics of the CLK AMG DTM feature wide fenders with a lowered front bumper and generous cooling air openings. Dominant elements include the 19- and 20-inch AMG lightweight alloy wheels, as well as a rear section designed with a diffuser borrowed from racing and an imposing rear spoiler. These design elements are consciously inspired by the CLK touring car that played a crucial role in the triumphant success of the DTM season in 2003. The body of the CLK AMG DTM utilizes high-strength and particularly lightweight carbon-fiber composite (CFK) material, found in various components such as doors, front and rear fender extensions, front and rear bumpers, and the rear wing. The interior reflects the motorsport flair: AMG sports bucket seats provide excellent lateral support, an oval-shaped AMG racing steering wheel with suede covering, and an AMG typical instrument cluster with a 360 km/h speedometer scale promise an authentic and minimalist motorsport experience. Door panels, decorative elements, and other interior components are also made from high-quality CFK material. Under the hood of the CLK AMG DTM is the well-known, specifically revised, and optimized AMG eight-cylinder engine with supercharging, found in numerous AMG vehicles. These revisions cover the crankcase, pistons, valve train, cooling, intake tract, supercharging, and exhaust system. From a displacement of 5,439 cubic centimeters, the AMG V8 delivers an impressive maximum power of 428 kW/582 PS, with a maximum torque of 800 Newton-meters. This power ensures performance comparable to supercars, with an electronically limited top speed of an impressive 320 km/h. Gear changes are made via the suede-covered steering wheel-mounted shift paddles, with extremely short shift times providing a particularly sporty and direct driving experience. The vehicle's suspension matches the demanding drivetrain, featuring an adjustable coilover suspension as commonly seen in motorsport. The rear axle has been redesigned with completely new spring links and wheel carriers, along with reinforced drive shafts. Uniball joints replace rubber elements on both axles. A plate-type limited-slip differential at the rear axle ensures optimal traction, while traction control (ASR) and electronic stability program (ESP) have been adapted to the increased performance level. The necessary braking power is provided by a newly developed AMG high-performance composite brake system with six-piston fixed calipers at the front and four-piston fixed calipers at the rear.
